Soft Steel Specifications
Soft Steel's unique copolymer formula and qulity controlled manufacturing poduces a fishing line that is unsurpassed for the most demanding saltwater and freshwater conditions. The copolymer process provides molecular bonds and greater density resulting in a stronger, more stable fishing line. The result is that the nylon is doubly reinforced allowing for a greater strength from a smaller line.
- Superior abrasion resistance: Due to the molecular bonding of copolymer lines, they possess a much higher resistane to breaking due to nicks in the line. Its extra tough layer provides protection against rocks, brush, boat bottoms, tangles and other abrasive situations.
- Low stretch factor: Set your hook with confidence.
- Even tensile strengyh: No weak spots throughout.
- Thinner Diameter.
- Low spool memory: Most conventional nylon lines are so stiff with tension that they habitually take on the rounded form of the reel spool, this is known as spool memory and is responsible for most backlashes and bird nests. With copolymer line, spool memory is reduced. A few casts and retrieves will straighten out copolymer line.
- Low Water absorption: All monofilament absorbs water. This can reduce line strength as much as 50%. Dry tensile testing does not tell the whole story. Due to Soft Steel's unique formulation, water absorption does not present a problem.
- Superior knot strength: Most line breaks occur at the knot. In fact no matter how strong the line is, tying a knot can weaken the line by as much as 50%. Copolymer lines have the least loss at the knot. This is due to the dramatic tensile strength that copolymer technology provides.
